We've had out of town company visiting with us this week. My friend is a golfer but he knows my golf and fishing buddy Harry so we decided to take him to Murray this morning to see if we could put him on some fast perch action.
I should mention he is a 91 year old WW11 veteran and survived a Kamikaze attack on his carrier during the war.
We got him a license and I asked how long since he fished and he guesses around 70 years. Use to fish a little with his dad.
Eatmorecrappie(Mark) gave me a spot to start and we hit it first thing. The wind was constant and even though it was not white capping it was very difficult to hold on a spot or area. We marked some fish and dropped some minnows down. I decided to bounce a spoon off the bottom and about he 3rd bounce a Striper about knocked the rod out of my hand. He wasn't a giant,9 Lbs., 28" but when you are expecting a 1/2 Lb perch it catches you off guard.
The perch bite was slow but we took 7 or 8 decent ones home with us, plus the Striper.
This is my friend, Geno, with a perch. It was a little cold for him but he was a trooper and we had fun. Going to hit the links with him tomorrow. He lives in Ohio so he has not played since last fall. but this is guy who holds 3 course records for the lowest score ever posted so he might be 91 but he is not getting any strokes on me. I bought him enough cokes and hot dogs over the last 15 years to claim him as a dependent!

Great post Ray!!! X2 what sinkermaker said. We are losing a lot of the greatest generation. Folks from that generation were a different breed than we have in today's folks. We could all stand to take a few notes from the ones we have left!!!
