Be careful below the dam. Water can rise real quick on you. Very dangerous in the rocks if not ready for it. BE CAREFUL.

Afternoon gents. Thinking of switching up my tactics and going after some eating catfish this weekend. I've heard they like either side of the damn and since I'll be in my kayak I was thinking of paddling around to the slower water below dam and seeing what happens. Any thoughts/tips/advice!
Since I bought this kayak last fall I keep going to Wylie and am just getting frustrated with bass and crappie. I need to catch something before I go insane. Lol. Thanks in advance.

Yea I don't think I'd waste my time below the dam when the lake is so productive.

Haha glad the lake has been productive for you. Given I've only started fishing it since sept. I can't seem to catch a thing. Is infront of the damn decent to catch some catfish nibblets?

For a safer, better bet, get a fishing permit at Anne Springs Greenway. You can launch a kayak at one of their lakes and catch kitties there.
Oh I could wrestle a monster fish![]()

Boatorr , Next time we have a gathering on Wylie you should come out and meet this crazy crowd. They are all willing to share info with ya on where , when ,and how to catch these Wylie fish. Just dont give up on em yet. But that Springway thing is a great idea. Brother in law fishes it often. He has caught some nice fish there.

We have wore the cats out below the dam, but you got to be ready when they turn the water loose, get out of there. we fished it at night, anchored in a john boat.
