Default Taw Caw Campground and Marina

Has anyone fished out of this marina? Wondering if this is a good location to fish crappie or bass out of.... or would another location be better. Not all camp grounds are for fisherman. I would like some info on best places for fisherman. Thanks and Happy New year!

I've only been to Santee a handful of times and I can't speak for the campground itself, but taw caw is a good area for a fisherman. Plenty of options for crappie and bass fishing in that creek. I will say that it might set up better for a troller or spider riggers but jiggers still have plenty to fish. If you are looking for the cypress swamps and flooded timber you may want to check north of I-95.

Ive been in Taw Caw Cr a few times shooting fish. For a long liner or spider rigger it looks IDEAL for crappie. There's some big cats in there too...or atleast there was some 20 years ago. I forget the name of the creek (maybe Black's bottoms?!?) It is right out of Taw Caw Creek to the left. It too looks great for crappie. I recommend you pick you up a good map of Lake Marion and study it some. And beware of rough waters if the wind picks up while out on those Santee lakes.

Thanks gabowman for the info. It's really helpful.... I know the wind can make Santee very dangerous. When was the last time you were there?

It's been a very long time since I was there. Used to make the trip a couple times a month to catfish. Then I became interested in shooting fish so made a trip a month or so to shoot 'em. That was back when I was in my 30's and I'm now 60. So mit has been quite a few years back. I do get a few crappie reports from there though...and ALOT of 3 lbers are caught in late Feb. usually. After my next retirement (done retired once but back at work now) I plan on spending some time there to try catching a few of them. Good luck on your trip and I hope we get to hear a great success story from you guys.

Riff you would be happy to stay at TawCaw,,,,Nice clean 9 room motel. You don't have to leave the creek to catch all the fish you want.So you don't have to fight the wind on the big water
