    Default Wylie 10-25-2016

Got out for a while today on Big & Little Allison. Tried several brush piles for crappies but only caught 1 crappie. Moved out on points & started catching perch on minnows in 25'. Caught all the perch on Big Allison about midway down.

Ended up with 25 perch, 1 crappie & 2 cats.

Thanks, Charles for the report. Hope you get in to the crappies soon. I think if I go in the day time I'll tight line around the humps and just above the power lines in B A.

Hey guys I'm excited to see local people on here. I'm just getting back into fishing and picked up a kayak last month and just haven't had the extra scratch for a fish finder yet. Any tips for finding crappie or perch around nivens creek? That's just the closest ramp into Wylie by me and I've gotten familiar with the coves but have no idea where structure and drop offs are. Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the board and sorry I cannot help you on whylie. What I would recommend is using a couple rods to tight line around the bridges and islands

Welcome back. The whole cove around Nivens is a great place to tightline. It is fairly shallow back around the ramp but as you head out towards main lake it has plenty of humps and drops. As you get to the narrow neck heading out with rocks on right there is plenty of brush piles in that area. Just vary the depth of your tight lines till you find where they want it.It is anywhere from 10 fow down to 30 right in that area. Good Luck.

Just a thought! If you got some old treble hooks and some junk lead, just drag it around and you'll find some brush.

    Welcome aboard!

I heard from a fellow CDC member, that his uncle, one of the day time guys I know caught 34 this morning. May be a good sign to be out there over the brush! Or tight lining some coves with deep water.
