Hope everyone on the board is doing well. Have been pretty busy lately and haven't posted much, but I have still been reading. Have not fished as much as I would have liked to this summer, but have slipped away a few times. Took some time off after the July 4th crowd left to have a lake vacation. This was a tradition for years, but have gotten away from it the past few years. Anyways my father-in-law and I hit the lake at about 6:30 on Thursday and Friday mornings. Each day was similar it was slow but steady and if you kept moving we found a few piles with some fish on them. We brought home 16 on Thursday and 23 on Friday and was back at the house by 10:30 each morning when the sun got up and so we could enjoy the afternoons relaxing in the water. Saturday my uncle joined us and wanted to get in on the action. I felt like after Friday, I had the area of the lake that we needed to be fishing figured out, so even though it was a bit of a ride we set out to where I felt like we needed to be and to some stuff that hadn't been fished in a while, but I felt confident about it. We left the house again at 6:30 and had lines in the water by about 6:50, we made a total of 8 stops on this trip and caught fish at every stop. It was honestly just one of those days where everything fell into place and we put the wood to them. We stopped fishing at 10:40 when my wife called and said they had breakfast ready. I had no idea that we had the mess of fish that we had, but we ended up 8 short of a 3 man limit. We cleaned them and fried them up that night for family and friends. Overall the size of the fish was pretty decent, biggest fish was around a 1 1/2 and most were good eating lb fish. Method of choice was vertical jigging a chartreuse fish stalker slab tail jig in 14-25 fow. Overall it was a great couple days of fishing and it is always great to enjoy the great outdoors with friends and family! With football season starting in less than 2 weeks, I am hoping to slip off another time or two.
