    Default Drilling holes

Bolting my 5X8 piece of cutting board to the bottom of my boat to be able to find the sweet spot for the fishfinder..gonna try to find rubber washers and a metal one on the outside plus sealant around it...any advice for keeping water out?

I hope I am misunderstanding your post? Are you actually drilling holes in the bottom of your boat?

Bolts and silicone will get the job done.

I couldn't bring myself to quite drill the holes and go the bolts route yet I'm trying the jb weld one more time before I do that but I have a feeling that will be my option

Boat motors are mounted that way. Just make sure the holes you drill will be permenant and more arent needed.

If you don't use bolts, right a bungee to the transponder so if it comes loose it will be pulled up an out of the water and not bang around and damage something. Test the gungie to insure it will hold up the cutting board and transponder. Transponders aren't cheap and a flying transponder will hurt in the back of the head

The way the back of the boat is set up I can't get to the other side to put a nut on it so I'm thinking big screws would do the trick as well

Try using 5200 marine sealant or the opxy that is used to glue transducers to the boat floor. Drill only at last resort
