I had the pleasure this morning of taking out a friend from work,John. His girlfriend was outta town,so he and her son LJ met me at the lake just after 7.After joking with LJ a bit about a pink rod I had for him to use but forgot it,we were on the lake looking for some suspended fish, and we marked a few. The method for today was longlining with 1/16 oz sliders, with 5 different colors for the fish to choose from. No one color seemed best, except for bubblegum/ chartreuse ,it caught the two best fish of the day on LJ's brand new rod.tried to pull.9-1.0 but the wind made it tough . Water temp was 82 by my sonar. Most all fish caught about 10 down in 20+ fow,,LJ,did all the catching this morning except mabey three or four.I told him to keep count cause I charged a penny a fish, close to the end of the trip we had 48 on the counter. I asked if he had a fifty cent piece and he said yes, I told him I was gonna fish till dark if I had to to be able to get that 50 cent piece, so we made another pull to try to get fifty, got 50 and headed to the landing. Probally about 50% ratio of keeper size vs undersized . LJ golfs ,plays baseball and a pretty dang good fisherman also,by the end of the trip he was pretty good going under and over keeping lines from getting crossed. The Lord blessed us with a great morning on the water .Here's a " live action " shot of LJ. John n LJ
. And LJ s personal best crappie 13 1/2" ,with a pretty big smile to boot !!!
date should be 6-25
