I hope everyone had a great Memorial Day and found a little time to get on the water. We had afternoon plans, but I was able to hit the lake until noon. With the bass bug out of my system, I set sail with the jig pole in hand.
I got started about 8:00 AM and had my mind set on fishing docks. After several stops on some of the better docks I only had 1 fish to show for my efforts and I had killed several hours. I switched tactics and went in search of blow downs. The blow downs I found were holding a lot of fish but they were little. I managed to catch a couple 9-10" fish that I kept, but it wasn't the size I was after so after several stops I switched tactics again...Brush and woody cover in deeper water.
Finally, I found a few decent fish. Nothing to write home about, but I did have a few pound fish which looked like monsters compared to what I had been catching. I called it quits at about 12:30 with a limit of 20 in my box. It was an enjoyable morning and I didn't get pestered by the water lice until the last hour.
Water temp was 83 and fish were caught in 2-20 FOW at varied depths with the jig pole. Yellow and black/chart. were the best colors. Total fish caught was somewhere around 35-40 I'd imagine. Lots of dinks for the future. I'm not sure I'll make it back out this weekend, but I'm sure going to try!
And they ate good Monday night!!!!
