I'm not the greatest fisherman as yall know.
But, I'm willing to try something new to me!
So I spent some money this year on trolling rods , fancy rod holders, braided line, jigs and more, in an effort to catch more fish and learn a new technique.
Results have been darned good overall.
I use to be a mid season brush fisherman catching medium sized to small crappie.
Trolling this spring has been a pleasant surprise.
After some great lessons from the Crappie Kid, massive tangles and bird nests, I've got the hang of it.
I'm catching more fish than ever in the Spring.
I'm even tying my own jigs now and that's fun too.
I want to thank all the guys that respond to all my questions on the forum and when I see you on the lake.
Here's a pic of a fish I got by staying just a little longer in a spot recommended by Charles Biggers!

Brett, you take the board off a mounted fish? LOL You doing good my friend. This is your best year I believe and you are truly a die hard fisherman. It will only get better as long as you stay on the fish year round.
You the Man!!![]()

Brett, are you going to go pro and join in on the SCCA Tournaments? I think the Brett / CK Academy team would bring the challenge to a higher level.![]()
Any comments on the future?![]()

Thank a Veteran every chance you get.
There are many techniques, and variances of techniques that can be learned by all if they wish to be better crappie anglers. Knowledge is king, hard work is a close second. You need a one two punch to enhance fish catches. Throw in punches three and four and you will become a year round crappie angler. Tight lining or slow trolling is the number one technique to learn in my book. It will have to catching fish from late fall, through winter, into early spring. Long lining works great from early spring into early summer. Then again from late summer into fall. Brush and dock fishing works great from mid spring through mid fall. Put a good many brush piles out, take the time to learn these four specialty techniques and you will be a crappie angler for all seasons. Congrats on adding another weapon to your arsenal.
