Default Clark Hill April 20th bass n striper

Tomorrow we go for crappie but today it was all about bass and striper on the points chasing herring. We kept 27 and threw 10 back because we thought we might be close to the limit. The cat behind them is 15 pounds. I'll post my crappie trip report tomorrow.Name: image.jpg

Lawless, it sounds like Judson was hitting points catching the fish that were after the herring. I'm assuming the herring is spawning now and are shallow so the fish push them onto the points and hammer 'em. Not sure how long this lasts. Maybe Judson can shed a little light on it all. Congrats on the catch Judson. I bet that was fun.

Yes we are taking advantage of the herring spawn. About a three week period when the baitfish move up shallow onto points and saddles to spawn. Bass, Striper, and Hybrids all work these places to feed. And we are there with top water baits,Super Flukes, jerkbaits etc. There are some explosive strikes for sure. I lost a $15 top water plug when a large striper hung me up. We kept 16 today. Including some of the largest hybrids I've caught in 10 years probably. Hit the brushpiles about 10:30. We kept 28. Some small but some 1.5-1.75 lbers also. Overall another great day. I'm wore out! A lot of crappie including the larger ones still had eggs. On average we caught them 10 ft down in 20-25 ft of water. We fished right on top of the brush at the mouths of coves. Best of all I checked my fuel tank after two trips and it didn't go down far at all.
