Default Another Windy but Successful Weekend @ Santee

The winds of March continue to blow in mid April making for tough fishing conditions. But, as the saying goes "Where there's a will, there's a way" I know I can't catch'em sitting on the couch, so for three days starting on Thursday I hit the water with hopes high. The strong winds pretty much limited you to back water areas, and one technique, single pole jigging, but that's not a problem because that's my favorite way to fish. Like last week, grass, logs, trees, and shallow brush was targeted. The bites were slow, but when you got one, it was a good fish. Limit caches were made each day, with orange and chartreuse, and blue and chartreuse being the best colors. Water temps have dropped to 61, with clarity slightly stained to clear.

Good catch Tim. Fishing in this kind of wind is hard work. Glad to see it paying off for you.

On a side note, looking at Friday's box shot the fish lying on top won the daily prize in the Santee Cooper Big Fish Big Bucks tourney. Not close to the biggest fish I weighed in during the month long contest @ 1.80 lb. but on this particular windy day, she was good enough to win the 100.00 daily prize.

Way to go Ink! That's three great hauls in this wind we're having. Thanks for sharing. After this past week I took all my tightlining stuff out the boat. It's jig pole time from here on out!

I love all crappie fishing techniques, but one pole jigging with a long stick remains my favorite, most consistant method.
