Sounds like one of those tough days. At least the cats will make a good meal. Congrats!

Took my Pops to Cane Creek this morning. Had some boat trouble to start but got things working (need a repair facility that does actually load or river tests). Fish the shallow back end for spawning crappie but none were there or they didn't want to bite. Pops had a tantrum cause I didn't have any beetle spins. So I showed him a famous Allison Creek pier jig(cutbait's creation). Tied one on for him. He tossed it to a fallen tree and as soon as it hit the water, his hi viz line took off in reverse direction. Instead of a big crappie, it was a big slimer (channel cat) bout 3 lbs. I tied on Larry's used bubble tail jig and caught a big cat on it myself. Worked entire shallow end with nothing other than a couple dink bream. Pop's caught/snagged/some funky hook up one of the big golden bass (carp) that were spawning in the backend. Had to chase it down with the boat ramming my minn kota into a stump or two. Weighed 7 lbs. Fished the main lake some and finally caught a crappie at AR SP. Kept the 2 cats and gonna have to eat a carp.Need more coaching from larry

Sounds like an interesting trip! Congrats on catching a few fish and making a meal! The 7lb green carp had to be fun on light tackle.

I hear ya Whipper. IM about to think that Thursday fishing report in the observer may be a fish tale,,about the excellent crappie bite at cane creek.
