I had those two out at Big Hart this spring and was catching slabs (1.75# to over 2# fish) when everybody else was hunting somewhere to fish out of the wind. They really payed off that day and I had that section of the lake all to myself.:) That wasnt the only day though. I dont hesitate throwing then out when needed instead of heading to the ramp because of the wind.
I've got a ski y for towing water skis an tube I could center one using that. An extra long rope to retrieve . I'd have to know it was going to be windy before launching
SD, I just hook mine to the throttle cable at the motor and throw the sock behind the motor. It isn't more than a foot or two behind the motor so I don't have problems with fish getting tangled up in the straps on the sock. I keep it as close to the boat or motor as possible but still being able to do it's job. That way I can still use the net to pick up fish. I know they sell "towing ropes" but I didn't buy those as they are way too long for my liking.
