    Smile SC little river today

Fished SC little river today and had a good day for crappie. I rode up the river searching for fish and finally found some. They were scattered in 20 to 30 ft of water. Caught around 30 with a lot of small fish. Waded through them and brought home 12 crappie and 1 6 lb striper. Had 2 others hung but they broke my line. Water temp was 53 when I got there and warmed up to 55. Pulled jigs on a 1/8 ounce jig head at .8 to 1.0 mph. Caught a lot of fish on the strike king shad delicious. No one color was best. Black blue chartreuse caught a lot of fish. Tipped some jigs with minnows and I think that caused me to loose a lot of fish because the minnows were to big. Don

Glad you had a good day Don. Did you meet up with your buddy I think his name is Jack, right? Was the lake crowded? Thinking about going tomorrow but it will be Murray can't decide to push or pull. Thanks for the report.

Mark I did meet Jack and he had a good day to. My fish bit all day long. I was still getting bites when I left at 4 o'clock. He fished a different area than I did. If one finds fish then we call the other. That is why we take two boats.

Good report Don. Glad to hear you found the fish biting today as I know it is a long ride for you. When the crappie bite gets right you will enjoy fishing the Hill It's around an 75 mile trip for me to fish there also but I fished that part of the lake all my life and it never is a disappointing trip even when the fish are not biting to well. Just a great lake to spend some time on. Congrats on the catch and I enjoyed your report.
