    Default Garmin 7 SV

I have posted a couple times about my displeasure with my humminbird 698... so much so that I am reluctant to invest in a larger bird.

I looked at a couple of video's of the Garmin 7sv most of the reports are also highly rated, any of you have any hands on experiance with the Garmin?

I've been using Garmin for years. I have three on my boat now and have no problems.

I always have had HBs but this Lowrance HDS7 touchscreen has made me a Lowrance fan. I did get the HB Helix 5 for my TM.

The Garmin is supposed to be true chirp and a 7 inch screen with downvu and sidevu for 499.99 sounds like a deal... maybe too good

All the folks that have Garmins seem to like them a lot. I just have never used one. That is a good price though.

I have been disappointed with my pair of Humminbirds too, a 678 and a 859di. The Lakemaster mapping is almost non-existent for Arkansas and the 2D performance on these DI units is not very good.

Garmin has excellent mapping for Arkansas lakes. Last year I added a Garmin 50s that is use strictly for mapping, with a 5 inch screen. Today I ordered a 7sv from Amazon, or I should say that I preordered one. My plan is to use the Striker 7sv strictly as a fish finder, and the 50s for mapping. Compared to the HB 859di I'll be adding chirp, and side imaging, while retaining down imaging. I'm anxious to get the new unit and get it installed.

Be careful what you order the Stryker for. They have GPS but no mapping system. Look at there pictures close. You can put way points but no map cards. Was planning on ordering one until I found this out. The side and down imaging are excellent.

The mapping isnt a issue for me, the 698 with my map card work just fine for that...side and down imaging stink, I just really wanted to get some feed back in the Garmin side and down vu , your inline with most so far saying the Garmin imaging is excellent.

Where is the garmin 7" with side scan at for $499. That's almost half the cheapest price I found. Cheapest I've seen with mapping and side view is $845.00. $499 won't come with the $300 side scan transducer I'm guessing.
