    Default Wateree Thanksgiving 11/26

Found a few from the pier. Dad finally tapped out after 50 lbs of blue cats. Got him his personal best as well. Kept a 8 and 12 and let one near 40 go.

Fresh shad on the bottom. Not even a bump on suspended baits.

    Best Thanksgiving in a while.

    Pics later on.

Long casting surf fishing gear and a little knowledge...have a big hump out 60-70 yards they love to move up and feed on. 3 oz sinker drops in 2-3 seconds...miss the hump and it's 4+. Oh and lucking into a big gizzard shad in 2' of water doesn't hurt. Caught the last 2 on the same gizzard shad head.

    Thanks guys. I'm beat.

Congrats on the catch, what area of the lake were you in and what was the water color? Have considered a trip to wateree on Saturday but am a little scared to ride 2 hrs to and the water be blood red.

I hauled the boat to Wateree on Thursday to try my luck only to be disappointed to find all bait and tackles stores closed. Unable to purchase minnows to tight line with, I never fished. The water at the creeks I rode over looked stained, but fishable. The cat bite must be on fire, talked to several bank anglers and all are catching plenty of fish.

It was slightly stained, but hey it's Wateree. Not red at all.

Was on the Fairfield side up from the State Park.
