Fish fry question

My son is getting married next Saturday and on Friday eve my wife and I are hosting a fish fry for the wedding rehearsal party, we are feeding around 75 people give or take. WE will have fries hushpuppys and slaw with the fish. Im cooking all fillets I am thinking a half pound of fish per person. what says yall?

Wow! 75 for the rehearsal dinner eh!?! BIG wedding.

I've never weighed fish rather I count fillets. I've always figured women and children eat 2 fillets each whereas a man will eat 4 fillets. I aint talking little fillets either. With a crowd of mixed people this has always worked for me. If 75 were coming then I'd probably prepare for 80 folks and if there's fish left over then I know I did good.

I've used that formula for fish fries for over 30 years (1/2 lb. per person) and have never came up short. Some will eat less, some will eat more. It always balances out when you have a mixed crowd of people. If the gathering was all men, I would probably up the weight to 10 ounces per person.

They might be a few drinking but not out of my pocket, My son wanted to invite a FEW extra people ,You know how that goes, plus the brides Cajun kinfolk from Louisiana. It should be a interesting event, Btw the La crowd are bringing fresh crawfish and boudin sausage so im not complaining

I generally figure 6 fillets per person, some will eat a couple more, some will eat less and I'll include a few extra fillets just in case. If the Louisiana crowd are bringing goodies, you may not want to have as many fillets unless you like leftovers!

Update. The fish fry went very well, my dad and best buddy cooked about 40 lbs of catfish fillets. WE actually had people come up to the cook tent and tell how good the fish were. One lady wanted to know what kind of fish we were cooking ,I told her the fish were organic free range catfish. She said she was going to try and find them in the grocery store. I told her good luck finding them LOL
