That's a great three days of fishing Tim but we've come to expect nothing less of your summer time trips. All that hard work pays big dividends for you, especially this time of year.

I too have the same bait issues as Butch. I can keep them lively in the bait tank but they die fast in the water. And I've never understood it because I know the water temp is much cooler down 8-10 foot where I'm normally fishing them. I normally opt to fish all jigs this time of year for pure convenience. But you show that live bait definitely has it's place this time of year!!!

Nice catch INK,thanks for sharing the trip and pictures. That goes to show that sweat and minnow scales does go together .Do you prefer different sizes of minnows for different seasons of fishing, tiny in the winter, big in summer?? Ronnie,on that ENGEL,,use the carry "strap" as much as possible,,,the first thing that will go is the handle,,it's the weak link(if they haven't changed it),,the handle will pull out of the 2 screws that hold it on....it does have a very nice gasket for a water tight seal,,only thing in real cold weather,,don't get any water on the gasket cause it will freeze shut on ya!!.Not sure what size you gettin,,the smallest size I don't think the handle will be a problem,,I got the middle size.Mine is over 10 yr old

I prefer a small to medium shiner. I'd say a minnow around 1 3/4" and I use it for all seasons. The white crappie do prefer a larger bait. So If I'm in an area that' probably going to contain some whites, I would using the largest minnows I had in the bucket.
