    Default Lake Moutrie newbie

Hey guys. Trying to become a good crappie fisherman. I grew up fishing sparkleberry swamp and moved to Summerville area 10 years ago. i have always chased shellcrackers and bream but I am going to try my luck chasing crappie around moultrie. I have been putting in at hatchery of late. it is the closest to my house. Is this area good for crappie? Thanks for any help and good luck to you all.

Hatchery is great fishing. In the spring it can bring some good action and great fish. I don't know your technique but if you are a long liner keep your jig head mans number on speed dial. Place is eat up with stumps. This time of year I believe you will need to find deeper waters than the hatchery can offer.

Moultrie is very intimidating to me. Use to cypress trees and lots of cover. You can always find a spot in swamp that is out of the wind for the most part. Moultrie can be very choppy. Pretty lake though. Went to Packs 2 weeks ago just to feel At home again lol.

If I lived there I'd HAVE to throw out a chunk of meat every now and then trying for some of those HUGH cats. I know theyre plentiful there.
