Default Anybody Been Bream Fishing Lately?

Thinking about going sometime soon. With water temps as hot as they are where do I start? Will bream hold fairly shallow even with high water temps? How shallow would you look?

Oh well...I can always take my rope lures and catch a bunch of garfish. Theyre fun to catch too.

Butch, I caught several on Rooster Tails couple of weeks ago on Murray around deep water docks. I have been trying to catch Shellcrackers since 3 of us hired a guide to show us how to fish for them. We did OK but the hotter it gets the less we find. I don't know if they spawn every month like Bream but we are going Monday to look for some. If no luck, we will throw Rooster Tails around docks and them pull some crankbaits down the creek channel on way out. By 10 or 11 it is too hot to stay out.
I always fished for Bream and Shellcrackers at Santee so this is new to me, but we have been doing OK.

Ray how's the striper fishing on Murray right now? Thinking about going in the morning but not sure about the weather at 5am, starting to rain again with plenty of lightning. The humidity is going to be high I know. lol

Gabowmen, we used to bream fish all summer long when I was a young fella. We used to fish with fiberglass cane poles and drop crickets under corks around the bank. The heat of the summer still brought good fishing, but we always targets shady cover in the form of logs, grass, and docks. Last year my Dad started shellcracker fishing and he goes about 3-4 days a week now. He fishes points and flats in 3-8 FOW right now with red worms and does pretty good with shellcracker, perch, and bream. The secret to the shellcracker bite for him is time of day. Once he figures out their feeding schedule he's in business. We went today for our annual birthday/Father's Day trip and managed a good mess with some nice crackers. Those things sure put up a good fight. The bream seem to be mixed in too. We had to weed through a lot of smaller bream and perch but some nice ones are in the mix if you wait them out and bring enough worms Name: ImageUploadedByTapatalk1435459462.585928.jpg

If I was going for Stripers I would tie up at the towers about 7PM and fish live herring down various depths trying to find the right level for them. Bout the only way to stand the heat right now. I am going Monday around 5:30 am to try Shellcrackers and/or Bream.
