Default found the crappie in Anderson

The only place ive been able to catch crappie consistently is going to the duck pond behind the Anderson Civic Center. They are up in there thick but are on the small side. Ive been catching 4-8 inch range fish friday and saturday morning on minnows, threw em back to let them grow. They are holding tight to the rocks and brush on the dam side in 1-3 ft of water. Ive been setting my float about 6 inches to a foot above the hook because they are that shallow. Ive picked up a fewer small bass and a few bigger hungry bream as well. Lost count on how many the last two days but Id say around 40 fish in 3 hours. fished from 8 to 9:30 both mornings. its quiet back there in the early morning. Id love to catch some bigger ones but I think itll be another year for them to get some size at the pond. Ive been trying brown rd access and Anderson beach but cant find anything biting not even the little bream. Sorry no pictures my camera on my phone is scratched beyond recognition. all you see is shiny blurs. plus some were so small you would think it was the minnow lol. good luck to all and hopefully someone else can catch some of the ones I missed

Glad to hear it, my wife and I walk the loop at the civic center several times per week and I've seen plenty of people fishing but never actually catching anything. Might have to give it a try this week.

Do you normally have better luck at Brown road? Been meaning to get that way also.

I've been spending a good bit of time over at Broadway lake, catching bream there but all have been small.

if you go really early and walk underneath the bridge and cast towards the pylons with minnows and jigs you can usually catch the crappie over there at brown road access. Problem is that you have alot of other people that fish there and already have that spot staked out.

Catching any size fish can be fun on the small lakes. When you see that many small crappie in a pond you may not see any big ones because the lake may be over populated. Thanks for posting the report.

Have you ever tried the other pond, that's around the backside of the civic center along the walking track?

It's a little smaller with a bunch of turtles. Seen a good number of smaller fish in there, not sure if they have any bigger fish eating the smaller fish.

ive only tried the pond right there behind the kids playground or behind the dss office depending on which way you look at it. apparently they say that bread kills the ducks and they have those duck/fish feeders in a couple spots to pay for the pond maybe? never heard of bread killing ducks but then again its nice because there isnt bread all over the place for the fish to fill up on either.

Yep, we walk at that one. No idea on the bread, but my wife likes feeding the things and they're empty half the time. Annoys me when feral children are doing their best to mess with the ducks

Tried jigs and some cranks at the Brown road bridge pier, no luck on crappie just a couple blue gills. Anderson crappie seem to be liking minnows though, there was another guy there with minnows that landed a nice stringer full of them.
