Taking boy to Hartwell This weekend

I am taking my 8 year old camping at tuggaloo state park for the weekend. I have never fished Hartwell for crappie and was hoping anyone could give me some pointers. I was planning on starting my looking in the back of Gumlog. But any pointers would be wonderful. Thanks

Hey noles321, there are a lot of standing timber in the river run and some nice pockets that should have some good fish in them. Throwing a jig to the bank may be your best bet having not fished there before. Also try trowing jigs at the dock and if you know how shoot some 1/24 or 1/32 oz jigs into the shaded sections of the docks or pontoon boats that will been anchored around the docks.
