    Default Newbie Question #2

So other than actually going to a lake, is there an online resource to find out water temps? Maybe even a historical reference?

The Corps of Engrs tracks water quality conditions at some of their water quality buoys. Depends on lake and depends on location. Water temps can vary greatly between main channel and the back of feeder creeks, depending on time of year. Best info is going to be from reports on message boards such as this (CDC). I fished back of a creek Wednesday and water temps were 48-52 deg F. We fished another lake on Monday and temps were still in mid to high 40s. Should move solidly into the 50s this weekend I would guess. Hope this helps.

Here is one I use, but like John said, it can vary quite a bit in different parts of the lake.
