Default Bad news out of work for awhile

We'll I've been hurting in my lower abdomen for awhile finally got bad enough to go to the doctor. Found out that I have an inguinal hernia. Since my job is a lot of heavy lifting Im going to have surgery. From reading online I'll be out about six weeks once I have surgery. so I might be doing a bunch of fishing in mid February through March which isn't so bad. I went to the pond at Anderson civic center Tuesday when it was nice and warm and caught one bream and one crappie on my black and green trout magnets. That was in only about 30 mins but the wind got bad and I left. With the water down at hart well I'm going to have to find some new spots to fish from shore. I can't file workers comp bc I'll get fired and I don't have secondary insurance so I probably won't be using the boat much. If anyone has an extra seat in the boat I'd help pay for bait and gas. I'll just have to see how I feel after surgery.

Sorry to hear your news Bjoyce66. I've had 2 hernia surgeries and boy has times changed from having the 1st to the 2nd surgery. In-out patient on the 2nd and walking around the next day slowly, not bad at all. They say with the mesh that they use you are stronger than before to where it should never happen again. I was told if I remember correctly that the more you walk the quicker you heal. You have nothing to worry about it's a piece of cake.I don't see how if it's work related how they could fire you? Accidents happen, to me if that happens it would be harassment. If anything shouldn't you get disability? Just my 2cents. Hope things go well.

Sorry to hear your problem and I hope you recover quickly.. Did you not file a incident report?
I think you need to leave home in the dark hours and come on over to Wylie and fish with us. We are apt to go any time day or night over here.

Strange coincidence, I am currently out of work because I went in on the 8th to have two hernias repaired. Once the doctor got going he found a total of 9 and had to place two mesh patches over the area to fix it and also sew one up around my belly button. I won't tell you that it was a lot of fun but it wasn't so bad. It seems that where he cut me in 2008 to remove 80cm of my small intestine didn't heal properly and was a mess. I'll be going back to work tomorrow but the area is still quite tender, nothing that you can't get through though. I wish you well and a speedy recovery, just take it easy and don't over exert yourself. Don't be lifting any heavy boat trailers, take a partner and let them do all the heavy lifting.

I appreciate everyone's kind words. I work on tractor trailers and do a lot of 22.5 and 24.5 inch tires. So I know I won't be doing them for awhile. Kinda shocked to see a lot of other guys on here who have gone through the same thing. Right now the main thing is it hurts to bend over I start getting a stabbing pain in the stomach. After I get comfortable and get a good nights sleep I feel good until I start moving around again. I have my consultation for Tuesday morning so we will see how it goes. If I don't get out there much this year make sure you guys send me a bunch if pics of your catches. I'll keep you guys posted on how it all goes. Thank you all and God bless.

Bjoyce, I hope things go well for you, they can perform miracles these days.

Don, I had part of my colon removed in 2010 when I had a bout of diverticulitis and it perforated my colon. Mine had all kinds of complications but I am good as new and have been since the surgery. Both of you guy's hopefully should go smoother since you won't be dealing with infection and all the crap that comes when you get into an emergency situation like I was. Not to downplay the seriousness of it, but hopefully with everything planned out it will go smooth and both of you should be up and around in a few weeks.
