Can't help with Wateree, but they are hot on Murray now. They are way up the lake in the feeder rivers and creeks, chasing shad into narrow creek runs. Most are catching them on top water plugs with a small jig on a trailer line about 18" back. Also Rattle Traps are working in feeding schools. Friend caught 2 limits in about 2 hours when they caught them schooled up.
All this is 2nd hand info from buddies of mine. I have not been out for Stripers, not sure why though.
Maybe this pattern will be similar on Wateree, give you a place to start anyway.
