Hey guys and gals,
New to the area, new to freshwater fishing as well. I hadn't fished in about 20 years. When I was a kid we fished in the gulf of mexico. Looking for some good spots to bank fish or pier, we dont have a boat. Live in Rock Hill and trying to get my kids involved and my wife loves to go out so any info would be helpful. Thanks!

Welcome to the site and to SC.Lake Wylie is a good lake for crappie, white perch and catfish. I think there is a public fishing pier on Big Allison Creek which is one of the best areas of the lake to fish. Your kids especially can have a blast catching white perch at certain times. There are several guys on here from that area and they can give you more details about where and when to fish.
Heck they even let me come fish with them sometimes. Watch out for the guy with the blue minnows though. He will fill your cooler up with perch and he likes to go swimming in the winter so be careful around him.

Welcome Aboard !As Ray said there is a nice pier at Allison Creek Landing. That is off Hwy. 274 out of Newport. Will be on your right at Allison Creek Church. Follow the signs.Try minnows under a cork or tightline em off the bottom. Plenty of perch and catfish around there. Lot of crappie been caught off that pier. Worms on bottom catch perch and brim out there. Keep an eye on the board cause we always gettin together for a perch jerk or even a crappie hunt. Am sure someone will have an open seat on their boat sometime. We love gettin kids out and huntin them perch. And do watch out for that guy with them blue minners. He thinks he is part submarine when the water is cold.
