Yellow perch in Stumpy Pond?

Mixed bag yesterday. plenty of baitfish and a lot of wind. Did catch a 4.5 lb green carp, 22 inches long, that spit the hook as soon as it got in the net. A flurry or 2 of white perch action and a couple crappie, I'm gonna follow Bearclaw next time I see him leave, anyhow pulled in a yellow perch, first one I can recall seeing in these waters, but I am sure that's what it was because I used to fish for them in Ma as a kid. Anyone else been catching these around here?

Tyler,I have caught two on the catawba chain,,one at cedar creek and one way upriver at hwy#5,both were about 5 inches long.How big were the ones you got ? I think it was Rango who posted a pic of way back,he had a few nice ones mixed in with some crappie from wylie.I saw you as I went by.I stopped at McCrays to get gas and didnt see you come on up the road and figgured you were headed to stumpy pond or fishing creek..Holler at me one day,we'll go to cane creek.

I have caught a yellow perch out of Stumpy Pond before on an Strike King slab hammer electric chicken color of all things. 7 inches maybe. Like everything else that had a bad day that day, he was eaten.

They are fairly common in SC. I have caught them at Murray and Santee and I understand that Russell has some big ones in it. I ate some in Ohio at a fish house and they were fine eating. They are close kin to a Walleye which is also excellent table fare.

thanks for the invite Bearclaw, I would like to go one day. I just got the one yellow perch, maybe 8 inches, it got cleaned, the white perch were good sized and got filleted (is that a word?)

Wylie is full of them. Some big ones too.
