Default Tilt and Trim on 90hp Evinrude not working...again

Has anyone ever taken the tilt and trim completely off? It's leaking at the release valve. I see the 4 bolts but I didn't know if it would slide right out and back in. I can order the parts just didn't know how difficult to take off. If difficult does anyone know of somebody that works on them in the Columbia area? Thanks

You should be able to remove the valve and replace the "O" rings. Remove the snap ring then it should screw out. I believe that one has 3 "O" rings on it. See part #86 here http://www.marineengine.com/parts/jo...4173&sid=36742

Thanks Bill. I'm just wondering if the snap ring is between the T&T and motor mount because can't see to get snap ring. What do you think and thanks again Bill.

If you decide it is too big a job, the guy I bought my outboard from has a shop at his house and works on motors. He is semi retired and I felt he did a good job at a fair price. He took my old motor off and put the new(to me) one on. I went from a Mercury to a Yamaha and he had a set of controls he threw in the deal plus he put new cables on and a new tach and charged me about what the tach would have cost me to buy.
He is in Orangeburg which is a bit inconvenient but he does not have a 2 month backlog and I felt he was worth the drive.
The shop is Ken's Boat and Outboard repair, phone is 803-378-0212(cell) or 803-534-1423.
If you need to call him, tell him I referred you. If you decide to go down I'll be glad to ride down with you.

Sorry I can't help with that part since I can't see how the unit is mounted.

Do you have to put a screwdriver through a hole in bracket to loosen screw. If you do you will have to do some disassembly to get to that snap ring. Don't think you could get that snap ring off even with good 90degree snap ring pliers. Had a 81-115 and I think that's how it was but been a long time.

Cray yes I do have to put a screwdriver through a hole but for once I had some good luck. I loosen the screw took a pair of needle nose pliers and it came out! No snap ring at all!! Ordering o-rings and snap ring first thing tomorrow. Thanks again guys.
