Default Secession 9-10-14 Won't be long til some cool temps and the fish know it!

Hit the lake this morning while it was still cool but is didn't take long for the sun to pop out and heat the water, me and Rosco!! Had to work today to find the crappie but after 2 1/2 hours of wetting a line here and there I found where they were at. Over the next 3 hours I pulled 40 over the side of the boat and 20 were lucky enough to go back into the lake, the other 20 made the long ride back home with me so they can take a bath in hot peanut oil

All I caught today was above 8 1/2'' and the ones I kept were in the 10 to 12'' class. Water color is looking great but the water temp is still holding in the high 80's. The fish were holding in 12' to 15' water and the bite was best at 10' deep on minnows and jigs tipped with minnows. Fished today spider rigging 8 rods. Few pics.

Good catch Stumpy. Is that lake better for tightlining or pullin longlines? Gotta figure me a gameplan so I can bring that trophy back to York COUNTY in OCT.

John both spider rigging and longlining works on the lake but spider rigging seems to be the better of the two as the water cools down in the fall. You can catch them longlining but the crappie tend to hold close to the bottom in the fall. I take both sets of rod holders for my boat because it pays to be able to change up if needed. My 12' rods will work for longlining if I have to change over if we have a week of warm weather the crappie may move close to the top.

Good catch and report Ronnie. I am planning on coming to the Fallfest and it will be my first time to fish Secession. Appreciate the tips.
