I use Pinnacle Limit Graphite Composite Spinning Rod and they work very well for longlining. I have only had trouble breaking a tip on the 8' in the coldest days of winter trying to left fish into the boat without using the net, my fault not the rod. I use 4-8', 2-10' and 2 or 4-12' if I'm using 8 rods or 10 rods.

Have been using these rods for I'm guessing 6 years. Great price also.

These are the reels I use, great price and can take the pressure of longlining. 6lb line Mr Crappie

Sold my BGJPs and going back to my Pinnacles, action of the pole seems to be prefect for longlining and the price is deffinately rite. 4 for 60 bucks at Grizzlyjig.com.

I use Shakespeare's. Like Rees Guide's Pinnacles, they're about 15 bucks each. They are heavier (fiberglass) than most trolling rods, but you're not gonna be fishing with it in your hand anyway. I've never had a problem with them.

Pinnicle Limit rods 6' - 12'. The rods will load up before the fish even knows theyre hooked. Theyre cheap and durable. I've never broke one. Oh......and THEY FLOAT! Dont ask me how I know. he he he
