After a summer of mostly minnow fishing brush, Tommy and I returned to our roots for some pretty good one pole jigging of shallow wood structure, and grass. The bite wasn't on fire, but it was decent. Some quality fish were in the mix, which made the trips all the better. Rooty Tooty 309 jigs were the baits of choice, with light colors being the best choice, as I was whooped in the afternoon after taking an early lead using a darker colored jig and refusing to change until it was to late to make any kind of come back. If you are wondering, yes, Tommy and I compete against each other every time we are on the water together. We find that it makes us fish harder, and allows us some good fun poking fun with each other.
