I have a mix of rods I use and picked 12'ers for spider rigging. I can use them for long lining and pull cranks with some of them. I bought two 12' rods at Academy this year (tournament choice rods) and am very pleased with the action. I use these rods beside BNM rods and they stand up the same. For the price I like them.
I would like to have the Southern Crappie Rods and plan to buy some when I can. They are built very well and should last you a life time if you take care of them.
Bean I like Wally Marshal in the 14 foot have not tried the Southern Crappie poles, but I here they are very good poles. One thing I will say, don't buy any B&M pole of any kind they will not hold up, this is a fact for sure and they want make them good if you have a problem. Tommy Vaughan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I agree on the BNM's not being very good. Always thought they were a lil light. That's why Capps n Coleman had them make their own rods. I use crappie maxx 14's. Got them very cheap and very satisfied with them. Stronger than BNMs but still sensitive.

I've had no trouble with the ones I have either. I haven't had any rods break besides the Limit 8' rod, have broke two of them in the winter but it was my fault trying to left big size crappie in the boat.
Start with good 16 footers that will carry heavier weights.
If I ever catch a crappie big enough to break my rod, I will be a happy camper. However, I did have one pull the end section out of a Bream Buster at Clark Hill one time. Chased that danged cork all over the place but never could get my hands on it.
