    Default Santee...June 5 and 6

As is the norm, hit the lake both Thursday and Friday. Thursday I was alone, Friday was spent with my bud Tommy. The fishing has been pretty tough here lately. When I say tough, I'm not meaning numbers of fish caught, It's more about how long you have to present the baits to get any takers. The fish are holding tight and near the bottom, can't quite figure out as to why. Our guess is the barometric pressure has been quite high here lately, but that's only a guess. One pole, vertically jigging brush and structure was the method, Rooty Tooty 309's were the baits. With the windy, overcast conditions we found black and chartreuse the preferred color. I limited on Thursday, on Friday we just couldn't get enough keeper fish in the box and came up a little short. As we do this time of year, or anytime of year if the truth be told, we placed numerous fresh brush out. We put out a few last week, and the fish seem to prefer the green trees and limbs over the old. A few white fish are starting to show up in the creel as well.

Some good fish Tim and Tommy. Glad to see some big fish are being caught by y'all, thanks for the report and pics. That one that Tommy is holding in his left hand looks like a 2 lb'er or close to it.

It gets tougher as it gets hotter but atleast they can still be caught. Like you said...it does take more persistance but looks like you guys are still finding them and enticing some to take the offerings. Congrats on two more good days of fishing.

Good report and good fishing. I keep thinking I'm gonna come back down and try them again but that is all I've done. Boy it has been hot this week, pushing 100 today. Could use some rain to cool things off and maybe make the fish more active.

Most any type tree will work, we prefer either oak or hickory. The reason being are two fold, both are hard woods and last for numerous seasons. Secondly, they sink with minimal to no weight attached.
