Default Quick Afternoon Trip to Murray

Made it home from work this evening with a little time to spare so I decided to hit the water. Thunderstorms were threatening around the area but other than a few distant rumbles I was in the clear. I jigged all afternoon and found most of my spots to be empty. I'm guessing this weekend's fishing probably still has them cleaned out. I fished a variety of things including docks, brush, bridge piles, and logs. The ONLY place I found fish were on docks but they were few and far between. I did manage a few crappie though and I got the excitement of catching a 13.25 lb catfish on my ultralight with 4 lb test. I lightened to never got him in and I got cheered on by some folks in the yard next door.

Water temp was in the mid 80s and best colors were yellow/white and red/chart. The crappie that were caught were in 8-12 fow near the bottom. It was a fun afternoon and a great way to unwind from work!

Good report CB. That cat had to be a fun fight and landing him must have been a good show If the lake is as clear as Hartwell I can see why the bite was slow, I hate this clear water fishing. Thanks for the report.

Good report Derrick. I have not fished docks in a long time, but I remember several surprises. The biggest was a 19# carp that I somehow foul hooked in the tail. That was a hoot on UL with 4# test.
