    Default Hartwell 5-21-14

Got on the lake today to play with my new Lowrance more than to fish but still put some rods out. Never caught any crappie, the Gar has moved onto the flats that were holding crappie and have run the crappie out. Had 4 interesting fights with the Gar with one being close to 5', LOL he hit the top of the water at the boat and Rosco run to the other side of the boat he decided he didn't want to lick that one Since the long rods were not doing anything I fished around a few docks with corks and jigs catching 7 bass with the biggest a little over a pound. Wish I had took my shooting rods but didn't have them today. Stayed on the lake until 2:30 and the wind just got to much to handle.

Got some great pics on the Lowrance HDS 7, man you don't miss much with all three screens running. The bottom of the three pics is down-image, the top left is sonar and the top right is structure-scan.

A few shot of brush piles,

Great looking screen shots Stump, I'm still old school and use B/W Humminbirds. Mostly I use past knowledge to determine if an area is a good choice to fish under certain conditions. The sonar is mainly for temperature, speed, and water depth, it works for me some of the times. But with these new electronics getting better and better, the clarity of the structure, and the visual fish scans I feel I will get left behind if I don't upgrade soon. Thanks for the post, great pics, and congrats on the few fish you caught.

LOL I do and don't glow I think they taste like they have already been spiced maybe that is the chemicals
It is funny you asked, I wouldn't fish the lake for years but started fishing the lake around 5 years ago. I'm old enough now for it not to matter and with all the meds I have to take now, what's one more

Good screen shots Ronnie. I am still leaning with my E7 but getting better.
Speaking of eating fish from Hartwell a buddy of mine has a place on Hartwell and several of us went night fishing for hybrids. He only kept ones that died from being pulled out of deep water and gave them to his neighbor. I asked him if his neighbor felt it was safe to eat them. He laughed and said his neighbor told him "Old Tom down the cove has been eating them bout 5 years longer than me. Soons he gets sick, I'm gonna quit eating them!"

I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.

Those are some great screen shots Ronnie. Congrats on the new unit. I'm jealous.
