Very nice congrats!!!!
I fished out of a fiberglass boat for 20 years and never had the first booboo. I recently got an aluminum Tracker, but I would not hesitate to go in a glass boat. I fish the Stumphole area which is named Stumphole for a reason, so I have hit more than a few stumps, but I don't run fast in areas I know there are stumps, and when I do run up on one I usually can just give it a bit of gas and slide right over the stump. If you react to running up on a stump by backing off the gas you will turn into a compass needle until some one pulls you off or you can back it off. Just use caution and you should be fine.
Good report Tim. I took your advice and managed a few crappie off the piles at Jack's on good old RT309s. We also found some nice shellcrackers around the back side of Persanti Is. I was hoping to get back down there this week, but if I do it will be Friday.
I have to confess that when I first got there I saw some folks fishing brush with minnows and slip corks and not doing any good so I tried longlining 4 rods with curly tail jigs tipped with minnows. I had 4 or 5 fish hit but came off at the boat and I never saw them so I am not sure what was going on. I tried the bream around one of the islands but did not do any good and was getting discouraged and was about to leave. Then I said I am going to try this single pole stuff with the Rooty Tootys and see if I can make it work. (I was by fishing by myself, Rick could not make it this year) First pile I hit, solid thump and a nice crappie. I managed 7 off of maybe 10 piles with several throwbacks. It was around noon and the bite slowed so I headed back to Stumphole for more Shellcracker fishing.
Again thanks for the suggestions. Hate I missed you but hope Florida was fun.
