Sounds like you are enjoying the time that you get to fish. The river holds some good fish and the pickerel puts up a good fight and on lite tackle they are a blast to catch. Thanks for the report![]()

Well my lower unit on my boat kicked the bucket when we were getting everything ready for the spring season. Put the ears on the motor and would not go into gear >So from that point on Ive been a bank warrior fishing when I can. Tried a new spot thats only 5 minutes from work in Piedmont on the Saluda River. Within 10 minutes I had a bite. The fish jumped up out of the water like a bass. It ended up being a pickerel. I was just using one of my black and green trout magnets and picked up a pike. Ive caught gar before but this was my first pickerel. Another spot along the river right below the bridge there were some nice shellcracker too. All of these were caught last Friday about 8 in the morning. Its nice to still find time for fishing even when your working 50+ hours raising a family and your boats down. Fishing is what relaxes me so when I get a chance to wake up early before work at 10 I try to wet a line for a bit.

Most here in South Carolina call them jackfish. They are fun to catch.
Funny you mention....I caught a jackfish a couple weeks ago on a jig while longlining. I thought I had a bass or something. Glad youre still finding time to fish AND catching some fish.![]()
