Took a half day vacation and we went up to try a little brush pile fishing. The first several yielded no fish although I did mark a few on them. We decided to fish a little for bass ( a hard habit to break ) for a while. After catching 4 of them we decided to give the crappie another try. The next 2 piles nothing. Then we went to my best one. If they aren't there we would be better off fishing for bass was our thought process. They were there and we finally got to see those green and yellow corks go under. Size was good, decent amount of fish on the pile but not like it will be in the coming weeks. Fish didn't bite well. For the number of fish I marked at that pile and others we just didn't get the bites we normally get. May have been the cold snap? Tried two more piles catching a few off of each then two more with no bites. They aren't on all if them yet nor are they thick yet. Better days ahead. We ended up with 16 and 4 bass. Water temp 64-65 fishing village area. Fished minnows 7-10 foot down in the tops of brush that was in 18-25 ft of water.
