    Default A first timer's nitestalk

Met up with BiggDawagg at Ebenezer ramp Sat. p.m. for a little nite action. He had a young fisherman with him that had never been on a nitestalk. After a little jawing about the best football team in S.C. (Clemson ) we took off to break him in. I had my work buddy aboard my boat. Ron and his cousin Steve and Justin were in Ron's boat. I got the jump on him and found his honey hole first. But they was plenty of room for all. I anchored in 28 fow. Temp was 65 and water slight stain.Tightline minnows from bottom up to 5 foot. Most crappie caught between 5 and 12 fot for us. Rods out and was not long till they started to bend. Dang perch. We caught a couple dozen of them critters before Stevie had our first crappie. A nice on to start with.13 IN. on my tape. Stayed slow for a while till bout midnight. Stayed slow for a while till bout midnight. They turned on for the next hour for us. We ended the night with 33 on the clicker and 23 keepers. Biggest was 1 3/4 lb. Back at the ramp we got to lookin at Ron's fish. The new guy Justin had showed them boy's how to git er done ! He had one around 1 3/4 or better ansd several close to the lb. mark. All said and done it was a decent trip. Not sure how many the other boat had. Will let them fill in the info on that.Had a great time out with some good CDC buddys and a couple new folks. Congratulations to Justin for teaching those guys how to fish. We will do it again soon so come on back.

Well we might not be first in the honey hole but Justin was the first in our boat to hook up with a nice slab. He really needs to teach my cousin how to set the hook. I'll call him the snatcher. We managed to bring home 21 crappie and 19 white perch. With all the missed fish from my cousin "Steve" LOL! We would've had probably 20 more fish at least. We had a good time remembering old days that's long gone and helping Justin build his memories to tell long after we are gone. Thanks John and Stevie, it was a pleasure fishing with you two guys. We were set up like you were. Maybe during the week we can get together again only for a short time out. Thanks for the pictures Justin will like those...
