Jimp hit the nail on the head, my cousin used composite boards when he re worked his trailer and they do have a lil sag in them so i would go with the treated wood for sure at least thats what I uesd last fall when I did mine.

I used treated 2X4s, covered them with marine carpet, and then put trailer slicks over the carpet to minimize contact with treated wood and facilitate loading and unloading.

ive had um on my toon trailer for almost two years with no problem I just screwed them to the wood that was on the trailer
raised the toon up an inch or two but no problem goes on and off a whole lot easier then carpet
