It's been a while since I experienced fishing like I had on both Thursday and Friday. Thursday was spent tight lining minnow tipped jigs in the shallows. The weather was warm, with a little breeze blowing. The first 45 minutes of the morning went biteless, I finally boated a 2.2 lb. slab. a few minutes later a 1.5 lb. male was caught. 10 minutes more, another 1.5 lb. male. I went to ease the boat around, another rod bowed, and a 2.5 lb. fish came aboard. I fished 3 more hours and never had another bite. So, on Friday I decided to head down to the lower end of the lake to try some long lining in some deeper water. I started fishing at 8:00 am, and trolled 3 different areas for a total of 3.5 hours and had one bite to show for my efforts. That fish felt small and came unbuttoned after a brief fight. I decided it just wasn't my week, loaded up the boat and headed home. I'm not sure what the problem was, but I wasn't up to trying to figure the fish out this time around. It goes to show, it doesn't matter who you are, or how much you think you know. Every once in a while the fish just win!
