Rango, I Also Fished Catawba Saturday Night , Bite Was Also Slow For Me . Managed To Hang Out Until About Twelve Or So But The Real Surprise Was Trying To Get Back To The Boat Landing, Man I Couldn't Even See My Bow Light The Fog Was So Heavy, Never Been Caught Like That Before , Thank God That I Recently Purchased A Fish Finder With Gps And The Lake Map . I Have Never Been So Disorientated In My Life , After Making It Into The Main Channel I Didn't No Which Way Was Noth Or South. For Those Of You Who Nightstalk And Dont Have Gps I Strongly Suggest It.
IF IM ON HERE I AINT FISHIN

Couldn't of said it any better my own self. I have been caught at night when a heavy fog rolled in and a GPS is a must unless you want to spend the entire night on the water.

the past few months we been going on full moons, and every time i swear off going again when its full, then before i know it, im on the water again under one. sat night i wasnt aware it was full till it come up. caught me by suprise. the fish wasnt biting and wed got cold from the fog so it dint take too much arm twisting to get the crew to pull anchors and come in.

yeah, a gps is the best thing since peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. i use mine all the time. youd be suprised at how quick you can get turned around on a lake even on a clear night looking for a way back to the landing. was that your under the bridge in catawba sat night? there was a boat tween us and ot . when we left it looked like a couple boats still under the bridge. i was suprised at the boats that was anchored in there considering the conditions.

No , I Set Up Out In The Middle A Couple Of Hundred Yards From The Bridge, I Was Looking For The Beast But Never Seen Her, Did See A Toon Set At The First Cove Just Off The Rocks Which I Assume Was You Guys. I Asked If Yall Were Doing Any Good As I Moved Up To The Corner Of The Creek And Channel, Thats Where I Ended Up Staying Till I Left. I Agree With Ya About The Full Moon, I Never Catch Anything During The Full Moon.

Was setup in Crowders Sat. night between power lines. Slow super slow with a mixed bag of fishes. Everyone remember, never nightstalk on a full moon. 1 thug about 4 pounds, 6 white perches, and 3 crappie slabs was the mess. Thug bit a lighted cork and another crappie. The rest came off downed line. Corks were 3 feet under, white perches bit 5 - 8 ft. downlines, crappie bit 15 - 18 ft. downlines. When I left 3 boats was still braving the fog. Not sure what water temps were but I set up in 27 ft. of water. Didn't even bother taking pictures.

Stayed out till about 1AM took me 1 hour to get back to Buster. The fog was thick and I didn't have a GPS on this boat. Had to result back to old school navigation. Compass, spot light, and knowing I had to go North and/or North East from the looks of my HotSpot map. The fog was less thick close to shore so I stayed a few feet away from the docks and just slowly motored my way back following the tree lines. As I got closer to 49 you could hear the 18 wheelers going over so I knew I was in the right directions. Will try it again on a Turkey day or that weekend.
