Spent last this past Thrusday, Friday, and Saturday fishing the Harris Chain Lakes in Tavares, Florida for the first Crappie Masters tournament of the year with a fellow CDC member, Southern Young Gun. We spent Thrusday pre-fishing, and the tournament was on Friday and Saturday. Neither of us had ever been on this chain lakes before, so we were both learning. All 3 days were very tough for everyone. The first day of the tournament was very tough. We decided to long-line because of the very high winds and because we didn't feel like we were on the fish good enough to tightline. We felt that covering more water would allow us to hopefully find some bigger fish. It was a struggle but we eneded the first day in 10th place. On Saturday morning we made the decision to tightline the most productive area that we found on Lake Dora. It was a good choice as we had a much better sack on the second day and the catch rate was alot better than Friday. I believe we had the second biggest sack if I am not mistaken. We did not finish where we wanted too, but we did improve and finished in 6th place. The weights from 2nd to 6th were very close as we were less than a 1/2 pound from 2nd and less than a quarter of a pound from 3rd. Guess a few fish that we lost came back to haunt us, but that is part of it. Regardless I enjoyed the trip, had alot of fun and am looking forward to the next couple of tournaments that are coming up on Lake Monroe in Sanford FL, and back home in SC on Marion and Greenwood. I will post some pictures later on when I am on a different computer and can get them to load.
