Fun on the Field

Had more fun today then I've had in a long time and still had my cloths on.:D Jake and my son-in-law joined me on the field, had a good many birds for a small field. Went out the first time around 3 stayed maybe 45 minutes nothing was flying so came in and cooled off till around 5. The birds started flying and at times kept us pretty busy. Jake got him a new Winchester 870 and he was proud of it, and I'm glad he got to shoot.
Hard to believe the boy was only 8 years old when we had our first crappiefest. He's now 13, One of these days he won't want anything to do with me, you know teenagers.
The first 2 shots I took I wasn't planted very well and the kick of the gun knocked me off my dove bucket into the briars on my back.Doh I ain't going to say how many we killed but it was pathetic, them things are there one second and gone the next.
But it was fun, and looking forward to making my field bigger and better for next year.Thumbs Up

I told my son-in-law I'm going get a skeet thrower and we can start practicing, we need it.:o

Sounds like you guys had a good time when they started flying. To me, it never was about how many we killed, but how much we got to shoot the guns. I aint never been much on doves either. If I could kill 6-8 a box I figured I was doing alright. Heck, there was times when the doves wouldnt fly we'd throw up dirt clods to shoot.:D:D

i hunted the dnr field down around the hill got 1 bird shot maybe 12 times there was some good shooting but like always am in the wrong spot lol but had fun cant wit till next week am going sleep in the field sat night so ill be in the right spot next na justing kidding

sounds like a fun day beagler if jake does wander off the trail you have guided him down witch he will as his neck starts to swell and he hits that right age oh about 16 he will wander a good 3 or 4 years then he comes out of rut and says pop lets go fishing or hunting this weekend then it will be time split 30 maybe 40% for yall 60 to 70% to the young does thats the way my was now that hes harvested oats you cant keep him off the water beagler did jake get him a remington 870 or the winchester 1300 both are fine guns in my book as matter of fact the dovenator used the new winchester sx3 in 20 ga to break a world record of 14hrs 15,208 doves 16,310 shoots fired 18 doves per min now that is one helluva dove filed go to the winchester inter net site and see it its wild

That dove hunting is FUN? Glad you'all had a good time. We had a GOOD field this year also, they flew good from 3 to 7 pm here. Better than the last few years, but it ant looking good for tomorrow, there saying 100% rain starting in the morning and lasting till Tuesday.

Good deal Beagler. I aint hunted in 10 - -12 years now but still remember the fun of opening day dove shoot. Dony worry bout Jake. He got the outdoors in his blood now so he will be fine. At least tell us how bad he outshot you on em.

Quality time with your son now will equal quality time with him later. The girls will get him for awhile, but he'll come back. ;-). Probably with a few extra mouths to feed. LOL
