I knew the forecast called for a breezy day today but gambled that this morning was gonna start out calm for fishing and I guessed it right. I got to my spot right after 8AM and started putting out lines. By the time I had 8 of my 10 lines in the water I already had 3 fish on.And it stayed pretty fast for awhile before tapering off some. I fished around in the same general area for the better part of the day after spending about an hour checking shallow water with floats in the back of the creek. For the most part the fish were on the small side. About an even mix of skidders and 9"/10" fish but I wasnt keeping 'em unless they went 11" so I wound up[ with a dozen in the box with the biggest being a male fish that went 15". All in all a fun day. Stayed out of the wind for the most part and caught alot of fish. Pulled single 1/16ths in water 8' to 12' deep running 'em about 3'-5' deep and the hottest colors were butterscotch, bumblebee, and some firetiger ponies I got from Stumphunter. Orange and red headed jigs did the best today. Final tally was 69 crappie and 1 wp at 2PM.
Oh....and a boat with two game wardens circled me so I waved at 'em and they waved back. I just knew they would want to check me as I was the only boat in the area. Especially after them seeing me catch 4 or 5 fish.:o I already was prepared to tell 'em that I had everything I needed to be legal (liscense, cushion, life jacket, etc.) and could give them a fish count too. Also, I would have to pull in all my lines before I could stop but they just circled me and eased on out of the cove waving again as they left.:D.

sounds like a good day
Good report Butch. Glad to hear you didn't have to reel in all those lines:D. That's a good looking crappie and it was a very nice morning to be on the lake.Thumbs Up

Good day again Butch. We followed you later in the day. Got a post on here. We had a ball as bite was pretty quick, but size wasn't what I was looking for. Released all 20 to swim for another day.
Hey.....open the livewell!
I'm glad you got to go today. It looks like you wore them out. I always enjoy those days when there aren't any other boats around. I looked out the window today and wished I was out on the water. I've been wanting to go back there ever since Saturday. I probably won’t be back in town until next Monday, so it doesn’t look like I’m going to get another chance until NEXT WEEK. It’s driving me CRAZY. Looks like they are calling for ridiculous wind throughout the week though until Friday, so I guess I'm not going to miss much. Nice catch though and I'm glad that wind stayed away for a good day out on the lake.
Good catch Bowman, sometime's you have to weed threw the small one's to get to the big one's.Don't think I have any of those color's except a couple of those firetiger's stump gave me.
Doug, the butterscotch is a light colored brown see thru grub with flakes inside it and the bumblebee is yellow and black with a red tail from Walmart.![]()
Great catch, weather iffy the rest of the week.....can't stand crappie fishing in the wind. I'm still trying to convince work to let me install a pc in my boat & work from thereWow, I'm just obsessed with crappie fishing....:D
