My DI is terrible now. I’ll try to get some pics this weekend. Can’t see anything on it now.

I have a few of the last software updates stored on computer for the helix 9 SI g2n and 10 DI g2n to revert back to if this newest update were to give you fits, but from what I read on BBC and Roy’s posting, we been waiting on a decient update and this seems to be it. I never get rid of a update once I have downloaded it and keep backup copies of my updates. Just a FYI if needed. Just be sure to follow instructions to do update as per Humminbird.
[QUOTE=Roger C;3887373]Are you saying that Helix G2 units can now use a y cable and transducer switch for 2 transducers? I was told by HB that you could not do that with chirp. Or am i not understanding your y cable comment?

Yes I'm using 2 transducers via y cable on my Helix 10 Mega G2N. No transducer switch, HB added a new selection under the transducer selection setting that allow this.
It's labeled "built-in HW+MSI". So I'm getting SI/DI from 1 transducer and lowQ 2d front another transducer. This option was not available until this latest update 2.110.

Roy is not using a transducer "switch" .... it depends on what 2 transducers you are talking about.
This is the same type of setup HB has always used so a seperate 2D transducer can be used to obtain better high speed 2D readings than can be obtained from the SI transducer. The 2D always comes from the 2D transducer that has the Y cable connected to it. It can be a skimmer on the transom or a shoot thru type 2D transducer.
The only difference here is that the recent software update for the MSI G2N now allows a setting to utilize a Low Q 2D transducer which previously only worked on the G3N units.
What he said :)
I am able to use my Mega DI/2d transducer using the y cable but just using the 2d element. This is proably not the way HB intended for this to be used but it works for me and I didn't have to buy a seperate lowQ transducer.
Anyone know if the Y cable setup will work with the Terrova 2D transducer?

[QUOTE=slowhand;3887625]Anyone know if the Y cable setup will work with the Terrova 2D transducer?
I really have no idea but I'm curious why you would want to hook one up that way as any other transducer you would be hooking it to would already have a 2d element along with si/di or di.
I have a new Helix 10 G2N chirp mega Si that I will be mounting this weekend to the transom of my stick steer boat.
My thinking...
That will let me see what I just went over.
I am also awaiting restocking of the Terrova TM that comes with a 2d transducer built in. I am not buying the TM because of the transducer, but it comes with the package.
If I could utilize that transducer I could see what's under me, and keep me, at the front of the boat, in my perfered position to the structure.

Yes the M 9 SIDB Y cable will allow getting 2d from the US2 ...
Do not change the Connected Transducer selection under the Sonar tab for the G2N ... (The head unit doesn't even recognize the Y cable and separate US2 is connected) ...
If the 2d is unsatisfactory with the US2 - experiment with changing the 2d CHIRP sweep or the turning off the 2d CHIRP in the CHIRP Configuration Menu under the Setup tab ...
