Humminbird dongle finally came in. Soldered all connections then secured with shrink wrap. Included a fuse (5amp) to preclude problems. Not sure if 5 amp is what I need but operated the Helix 10 for an hour and a half. Power supply was cold as a cucumber so do not think that will be an issue. I will start hitting the books while working in simulator mode so I quit asking dumb questions. Since I have not started I feel I should have, at least, one dumb question (grin). In simulator mode a screen appeared as I was scrolling through the options of a 360 view. Can I assume I have to have a corresponding transducer to actually have this view working? Surely, (do not call me Shirley) I do not have this capability with my Helix 10mega transducer, right? Thanks, Rickie. You are a treasure. I will study hard.

Good deal on the power brick running cool - my laptop's charger/supply gets pretty hot!
You can simulate 360 as well as radar views (won't stay hidden unless in normal operation) if you don't have an accessory connected, you can't use it in normal operation.
I was talking about being in standard mode on the lake with my standard transducer. I will investigate further but am assuming I need a different transducer to get an actual working 360 view. Thanks for the comment, though.

Dhaire, you do have to have a 360 transducer to use the 360view on the water to catch fish. Your standard transducer doesn’t offer the 360 view, it’s another TD and costs more money.
However in simulator mode you don’t have to have the actual 360 TD.

Lastly, do the settings I change in simulator mode remain in the normal setting mode? The book hints that it does but not overtly stated.

Wow. I need to be able to figure out how to find those answers. Back to the books. Thanks Rickie.
