Seems to me that it does just fine as is. My comment above was more toward those who have had great issue with the cv's not being able to display cover directly below the boat (dv). This was/is a particularly heated topic on another site I frequent. Your pics are very detailed and look good to me. I am using a gt52 and am very pleased with my results also

No, not what I'm saying at all. Ztkirkpatric has some pretty awesome looking dv pics with his cv40. Rickie has shared some displays that depict the lobes of the ducers at the alternate frequency settings. These cv's , as well as some of the older HB's, look to overlap beneath the boat for total coverage. I would think that it would be somewhat weaker, but covered nonetheless. I understand that in shallow water it is less of an issue. IDK I only have used the setup I currently have. I am happy with it. Today I could see my 1/16 oz handtie in 11-13 fow bouncing over the brush and the crappie and brim coming to get it. On both 2d and dv (800 khz). I cannot give you personal data about a cv. There's some guys on BBC that run both and seem to not have issues. One says for his applications he cannot tell a difference. Good luck.

I was a little mixed up reading that. Since I have different transducers, I'll have to turn on the ClearVu on my 93 and see how it looks side by side with the Striker.
Came across this school of fish today near a sunken bridge. I was only able to manage 3 crappie and 1 bass out of this. I was totally expecting to catch a limit.

Are the numbers showing on the sonar screen? You may have to turn them on in the overlay settings. When viewing sonar just hit menu/sonar setup/overlay. I believe that's where it is. Trying to remember off top of my head lol

You can record and download 2d, dv and sv to Homeport as recommended. You may not be happy with what you are able to display with the sv. It gives you a narrow portion of what you have recorded. i.e. if you made pass and thought you were recording out to 50 or 100 feet you will only get a displayed range of something less. It will depend on the depth you are in also. I went around and around with them about it but to no avail. Was told there were no plans to fix it either. Does an awesome job on the 2d and dv, but I wanted to be able to study the sv on the home pc screen--which I can, just way less than what I showed recording. This information is a bit over a year old, and I have not checked again. Maybe something has changed.
^^^this is a biggie for me, because i cant really afford anything over a 7" screen size. So i have to be able to review recordings at home.

As of this afternoon, Garmin was having issues with homeport. They said IT was working on it.
Homeport was a big selling point for me as I stated, I wanted to be able to review especially sv at home. It is free, and it works great on 2d and dv. If really enhancing your sv learnings at home is your priority then you, like me, may be disappointed. It is cool in that you can change color schemes and gain etc, but the range reduction on sv was very disappointing for me. They explained the process to me but the bottom line is that the display you see on your unit while recording sv is NOT what you will be able to display at home.
I haven't recorded any SV yet. If we can get out Saturday I'll try to find something interesting to post and compare against a screen shot.Quote:

Unless something has changed, the depth at which you are recording also influences the displayed field of range. I had mine set at 50' per side I think. If you begin in less than 10 fow you will get a certain range along with your water column (not 50 f). If you start in 20-25 fow you will get the water column and very little per side. We did get out this morning and here's the most interesting thing I recorded on SV, along with what I think is a corresponding screenshot. I know I went over those craters several times, but I only took two screenshots of them. We did catch some nice crappies in here running about a 1.25 pound average.
Now I see what others said about the SV recordings. I was running about a 70' range, but the recording shows about a 25' range. Recording playback has been fine, for me, in 2D and DV, but this is the first time I've really looked at a SV recording in HomePort. It's like a slight change in angle
