Default XHS 9 HDSI 180T Transducer

I would just like your thoughts on the below:
I have had a transom XHS 9 HDSI 180T transducer mounted on my boat for about six years. It has over 2000 hours of service. It maybe just me, but the image quality on my 999SI does not seem as good as it once was. Could it be possible that the transducer is getting old and tried like me?

Sonar piezoes vibrate to create the sound pulse ...

    Vibration is mechanical energy ...

Mechanical energy will wear anything over time ...including piezoes ...

There have been many reports thru the SI years of xducers getting weaker and replacing improving the images ...

There are other variables needed to consider also ...

Head unit issues, cabling issues, EFI/RFI creation from other electrical deviices over time, software updates ... can all contribute to differences in what one compares to "it didn't use to look like this" ...

The best troubleshooting method for suspected xducer failure (or weakening) is testing with a known good/new xducer ...

    Thanks, Rickie
I have a new one that came with my 999 when I replaced my 998. I may just replace it. I can always keep the old one for an emergency. I still not sure the latest sonar software works as good as the 6.490 that was in my old 998 at one time. But with 360, etc. I have to run the latest (7.650) in my 999SI .... which has a lot of bugs which I doubt will every be fixed now that the Helix is out.
