Has anything changed recently? Have you added another unit, worked on any wiring, etc?

I have a Helix 9 DI that I have had since Feb. I just now have started having problems with very crazy depth readings when I run the trolling motor. It does not do it all the time but sometimes. When I purchased the unit I swapped out the transducer for the trolling motor transducer and have had no problems until now. What do I need to do to correct this problem? Thanks.

No not changed a thing.

The very first thing I would do is to reset to factory default. I would check and make sure that the transducer cable has not been nicked or cut in anyway. Also if any slack in the transducer cable that it is rolled up like the transducer installation instructions recommends. But easy way to make sure it is not the unit would be to try it on another boat if possible.
Be safe and good luck fishing
When my unit did this I just turned up the surface clutter until it started reading right. I just had to turn it up to 2.
I second what justatrolling said. My helix 7 did exact same. Surface clutter to 2 and no more
